(COVER) Elephants as big as whales- Playradioplay!

I wanted this to be heaps better than it is but I moved on to the next part to early each time and ended up with a less than perfect copy of the original. Check it out though, I’ll probably record it again later this year with better vocals, real cello and better production.

Mistaken for strangers- The National (Covered by me).

Its been forever since I’ve done a cover of a song and I’ve been singing the chorus of this song in my head for weeks now and it pretty much sums up perfectly how I feel no matter what town I am in.

Good To Go // Elliott Smith

[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.]

Wrote a song today. Give it a listen.

On friday morning on the bench in the park at the end of your street, I will wait.

I know you’ll be there, you jog everyday and your route stays the same from 6am till 7:50.

and if I catch you by surprise will you let me apologise for the way you had to find out.

I told Daniel but not you, thought you’d hate me if you knew who I was when you’re not around.

It’s not too late to start again, to get what you want you just have to pretend that you want what you can get.

Keep our thoughts where they belong, we’ll just act like nothings wrong because nothings wrong if you’ve never known whats right.

I saw what you wrote me in the frost on the glass at the back of the bus as it took you away.

I called you at your aunts house. You weren’t home she said she’d call me back when you were and well I guess she forgot.

I’m so glad we never bought a pet because you’re capable of such neglect theres no hope in hell you’d keep it alive.

I’ll say it now, I’ll speak it clear, I’ll press my lips against your ear if you’ll hear me out.

Started writing a song last night. Tried improvising the missing parts so that I wouldn’t forget what I already had but was interupted by a phone call mid song. here is the result.

The song is currently called Masks.

This is a track I wrote a couple of weeks ago while watch Nims Island on tv. Completely different to my usual stuff but I think you might like it. Make sure you give it a listen and let me know what you think.

For one of my classes I needed to write a song where the chords are the same in the verse as the chorus. The aim is for us to demonstrate ways of making the chorus bigger without changing the chords. Here is what I came up with today. The “Rudy” character in the song is from a book I am currently reading called “the book thief”.

Something completely different to what I normally do. Full band, recorded vocals today. Let me know what you think.

oh, and lyrics;

drink up girl, you’re boring when you’re sober.

the night is young, but at this rate its over.

and I’ sure we’re not here just to have a shit time.

and i hate to say I told you so,

but sober makes the night so slow,

and drinks are plenty and time is scarse.

don’t worry you wont be alone,

we’ll walk or catch a taxi home,

and continue drinks when we get there.

cause the bands on their last set, the bar staff are cleaning,

and if you think they’ll stay open for you, love, you’re dreaming.

and the night was a waste if you let this keep you down.

and i hate to say I told you so,

but sober makes the night so slow,

and drinks are plenty and time is scarse.

don’t worry you wont be alone,

we’ll walk or catch a taxi home,

and continue drinks when we get there.

Check this out. Think I’ll write and record some vocals for it tomorrow.

Playing around with some amp sims and a artic-monkeys like chord progression. No vocals but its pretty neat. I might get back into playing in bands. maybe.

[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.]

something a bit different. I’m just experimenting with some techniques that I might want to put in some later songs. I made this drum beat with all sorts of neat tricks.
